Had
an abortion...?
You're invited to the
Post
Abortion Counseling Education
(PACE)
Support Group
Sponsored by Lapeer Pregnancy and
Family Care Center
Could
your previous abortion
still be effecting your life?
Immediately following an abortion there is a
strong sense of relief
knowing that the abortion and the pregnancy is
over.
This relief, however, may be only
temporary.
Soon confusing thoughts and emotions
emerge.
Problems that often accompany abortion are
called
Post
Abortion Stress
(or Post Abortion Trauma).
SOME SIGNS OF P.A.S.
ARE:
- A feeling of grief, sadness, or loss
Anger, betrayal, or bitterness toward those connected with
abortion
- Guilt
- Moodiness, depression, hopelessness
- Inability to communicate, express emotions
- Frequent crying, crying spells
- Trouble with intimate relationships
- Discomfort around or keen interest in small children and babies
- Sleeplessness, nightmares, flashbacks
- Suicide attempts, suicide
- Change in relationship with or concept of God
- Alcohol, and/or drug abuse
- Anorexia, bulimia
- Not able to stop thinking about the abortion or your
baby, especially around anniversary dates of abortion, or
due date
- Fear of physical harm from the abortion, or inability to
bear future children.
YOU ARE NOT
ALONE!
Thousands of women throughout our nation and the
world have experienced serious difficulties after abortion, sometimes years later. It is
never too late to honestly face and deal with these innermost feelings.
WE WANT TO HELP
Women who can identify with your pain are available to encourage
and support you - with the same help they have received.
The Post Abortion Counseling Education group is a confidentially
safe place where women can share their innermost feelings about their past abortions
without fear of judgment or condemnation, and hopefully find the same spiritual and
emotional healing many other women have experienced. The group provides a Bible based
guidebook (Bible knowledge or Christian commitment is not necessary to participate
in or benefit from the group). There is no charge for this group and women of all ages are
invited to attend. The group meets twice a year for 10 - 12 weekly sessions. One series of
sessions meets in the Spring and one in the Fall.
If you have experienced some of these symptoms and would like to
talk to someone who cares, please call:
